German judges confirmed the acquittals of two doctors in cases of (passive) euthanasia

On Wednesday the 3rd of July, the German Federal Court of Justice (BGH) has confirmed the acquittals of two doctors in passive euthanasia cases. The doctors were not obliged to save the life of their patients after a suicide attempt.

Maine Death with Dignity Act enacted and signed

On Wednesday the 12th of June, Governor Janet Mills signed the LD 1313, the Death with Dignity Act into law. With the Governor’s signature, Maine became the 9th jurisdiction to allow people with a terminal illness to die the way they want: without suffering, in peace, and with dignity.

South Australia has restarted activities towards an End-of-Life Choices act: a Joint Committee on End of Life Choices has been established, which is now calling for submissions (just a few lines, or as long as you like). SAVES (South Australian WF member) calls for help in this: submissions are more than welcome, they may come from everywhere around the globe; deadline is August 2, 2019. Vincent Lambert was allowed to die, but not

Monday morning the 20th of May, the treatment of Vincent had stopped, just as the diet and fluid administration. But a few hours later a judge in Paris ruled that the 42-year-old Frenchman Vincent Lambert, who had been in the vegetative state for 11 years, was not yet allowed to die.
