Seguin Award to be made for the first time in Tokyo.

The World Federation of Right To Die Societies biennial conference in Tokyo in the fall of 2004 will see the presentation of the first Marilyn Seguin Memorial Award. The Board of Directors, at their meeting in Luxembourg in October 2003 discussed possible recipients and have decided on a very worthy individual who will be receiving this inaugural presentation in honor of Marilyn Seguin.

The Hon. SANDRA KANCK obtained leave and introduced a bill for an act to provide for the administration of medical procedures to assist the death of patients who are hopelessly ill and who have experienced a desire for the procedure subject to appropriate safeguards. Read a first time.

Evelyn Martens of the Right-to-Die Network of Canada was arrested and charged with aiding an counselling the suicides of two terminally ill individuals. The trial is expected to begin in September 2004.

Foremost in Lesley Martin's mind when I talked to her before her postponed voluntary euthanasia charge hearing in Wanganui District Court on Wednesday was her honeymoon. She married last night, wears her scintillating ring proudly and told me she hoped the court proceedings would not upset her plans.
