Belgian experts support the wish to extend the Belgian euthanasia law

On March 24, the Belgian End of Life Information Forum (LevensEinde InformatieForum - LEIF) organized a symposium in Antwerp about a possible extension of the euthanasia law to people with so-called acquired incapacity, for example as a result of dementia. LEIF chairman Wim Distelmans already asked attention for this possible change a few months ago. At the symposium, experts from different sectors agreed with him.

On March 25, 2019, a floor vote on bill S1072 and A1504, creating an 'Aid in Dying for the Terminally Ill Act', took place in the Assembly and the Senate. The bill passed both chambers. The bill passed the Assembly with 41 votes to 33, and the Senate with 21 votes to 16.

Danish physician Svend Lings sentenced to prison for assisted suicide

On March 7, The Maryland House of Delegates passed a death with dignity bill.
Lawmakers voted 74–66 in favor of the End-of-Life Option Act.
The bill has now moved to the Maryland Senate where it, as Senate Bill 311, awaites a new voting.
