Heated discussions in SINGAPORE

Thursday, April 15, 2010

After a controversial publication in The Singapore Academy of Law Journal by Ms Toh Puay San, a deputy public prosecutor (writing in her personal capacity), and National University of Singapore law don Stanley Yeo in which they broke a lance for physician assisted suicide, a public debate exploded.

Both the Minister of Health Khaw Boon Wan and Mr Gerard Ee, chairman of the Council for the Third Age, pointed out that there is too great a danger of abuse, and a going down the slippery slope. An article about this debate in The Online Citizen led to many reactions (worth reading!).

(unfortunately I did not manage to get a copy of the original article in the Law Journal; webmaster)
