House of Lords establishes a Select Committee

The new parliamentary move to allow British physicians to assist terminally-ill patients to end their lives cleared its first hurdle in the House of Lords, in London, on March 10th.

When Lord Joffe presented his revised "Assisted Dying for the Terminally-ill Bill" to his colleagues in the House of Lords, it was agreed, without any formal vote, that this will now be sent to a Select Committee for detailed scrutiny - this process could take up to two years.
