2nd November World Right to Die Day

We call on society to take up the challenge and become involved in the debate on the fundamental human right to choose the manner and time of our death, with dignity, and where possible or necessary, assisted by professionals.

13th European Conference now scheduled in Brussels 11 & 12 October 2017

The board of RtD-Europe kindly invites its members to attend the (postponed) European Biennial meeting on October 11 and 12, 2017. The meeting will be hosted by the "Centre of Expertise on the Worthy End of Life"  in Wemmel near Brussels in Belgium on Wednesday. The second day the meeting will be in the European Parliament (NB extra criteria to attend on the registration form). Find attached the letter of invitation + programme (PDF),  the registration form (Word) and the RtD-E CHARTER 2017 (PDF) to be discussed in the EP.

WFRtDS Conference 2018

will be held in Cape Town South Africa from 6 to 9 September 2018.  Updates - when available - will be published on this site.

West Australian Parliament launches inquiry into end-of-life choices

On 23 August, the Joint Select Committee on End of Life Choices was established by the West Australian Parliament. This  Western Australian parliamentary inquiry is seeking community views on the need for laws to allow citizens to make informed decisions regarding their own end of life choices.

(Federal) House of Representatives passed a bill repealing the Death with Dignity law, passed by the Council in Washington D.C.. Washington DC not being a State of its own implies the legal autority of the Federal Parliament may and can overrule Washington's law(s).  Battle is not yet over:

New Court Case: DignitySA joins in support of terminally ill patients

Dignity South Africa (DignitySA) is continuing its fight for terminally ill South Africans to die withdignity.  DignitySA will join as a plaintiff in an action instituted in the Gauteng Division of the High Court.
